In Ecclesiastes 1:14, King Solomon says “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” If there is nothing to be hopeful about “under the sun,” there must be something beyond it.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He set the ultimate example of love when He died on the cross to pay for our sins and have eternal fellowship with us. Jesus is our bridge over troubled water.

The world says, “If you want to really have fun, stay away from God.” But the truth is if you really want to have fun, since enjoyment is His gift to us, we need God.

We will always find reasons to grumble. But complaining drags us down and can lead to discouragement, depression, and disappointment. A better way is to live in a spirit of co-operation, using our words to encourage and uplift those around us.

Our attitude towards one another must be gracious. There’s love when you’re gracious, there’s tenderness when you’re gracious.

Being involved means more than shaking hands with people on your way out of a church service—it’s investing in the lives of others.
